●Planning Objective:
This course seeks to develop students' understanding and practical abilities in collaboratively establishing a sustainable and resilient society in Shenkeng through architectural design education, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The course prioritizes respect for and inclusion of varied values. Through active student participation and collaboration, the goal is to create socially impactful designs that promote community development and improvement while contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.
●Instructional Features:
1. Integration of SDGs: The course introduces the principles and objectives of the SDGs, which are then applied to architectural design within the Shenkeng community. Students will learn to incorporate Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) requirements, including the reduction of disparities, the promotion of sustainable urban development, and the preservation of cultural assets, into architectural design processes that reflect sustainable development principles.
2. Project-Based Learning: Students will participate in practical architectural design projects centered on the Shenkeng community, informed by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students will utilize creativity and technical abilities to offer viable and sustainable design solutions through collaboration and expert coaching.
3. Community Engagement and Co-Creation: This course prioritizes engagement and cooperation with the members of the Shenkeng neighborhood. Students will perform community research, facilitate workshops, and engage in co-creative design processes to comprehend local needs and expectations. Through effective communication and co-creation, students will develop architectural works that are participatory and reflective of community input, enhancing residents' awareness and involvement.
●Expected Social Impact:
Cultural Conservation and Sustainable Development: Through students' design projects, Shenkeng's cultural heritage will be preserved and revitalized, fostering the continuation and development of local culture. At the same time, students will present human-centered designs rooted in sustainability, contributing to both cultural preservation and sustainable growth.
