●Planning Objective:
The architectural programming prioritizes a thorough and in-depth approach to design analysis, design thinking and design decision-making. Following this, the focus shifts to the feasibility of executing design concepts, such as structural planning, mechanical and electrical planning, financial planning, and sustainability planning , etc. The scope of the project covers the Shenkeng area, which can strengthen students' analysis of humanistic and environmental issues.
●Curriculum and Instructional Features:
The course includes classroom lectures and field surveys. By integrating field inspections and analysis, students are better equipped to align architectural designs with user needs.
●Expected Social Impact:
The course aims to develop students' analytical and problem-solving skills.

This course guides students through on-site investigations and literature reviews to understand the cultural and humanistic characteristics of Shenkeng, as well as to analyze related issues. Throughout the course, students discuss and study architectural topics in the Shenkeng area (including the old street) through group discussions. Each group is also tasked with developing an architectural plan analysis report focusing on the Shenkeng area.

1."Architectural Proposal for Shenkeng Civic Activity Center, New Taipei City"—
Chen Yizhen, Chen Yingzhen, and Li Jiafang

(1)Research Motivation:
During our first visit to Shenkeng District to participate in the old street activities, we observed not only the enthusiasm of the local residents but also considered how cultural and historical exchanges take place amidst the changes of time, mainly through the lived experiences of the elderly. We found that the lifestyle of the elderly contributes significantly to local historical and cultural influence. In terms of social engagement, activity centers, in addition to close family ties, serve as an essential source of spiritual support for the elderly, which directly affects their satisfaction with life. Therefore, through this architectural planning course, we decided to renovate the local activity center to reflect and honor the historical sentiment of the area.

(2)Research Objectives:
A. Improve the building's appearance and enhance its functionality.
B. Recognize how the elderly use space and integrate it into the current design.
C. Examine the interplay of colors, spatial components, and external characteristics.
D. Comprehend the breadth and importance of indoor activities.

(3)Research Methods:
A. On-Site Investigation: Perform on-site observations to pinpoint current issues.
B. Online Research: Explore various online sources or literature to gain insights into renovation techniques and the environmental standards for materials.
C. Research Analysis: Facilitate group discussions to identify essential needs and conditions.
